After digging out from underneath a mountain of work, I had time to sit and think about business 5 years from now (which I really like doing). As my mind weaved in and out of different scenarios (post H1N1, post economic boom, post global meltdown, post implosion of consumerism-trade-for-sustainability-queue-Kumbaya-here) I eventually ended back at VUCA.
Where it all leads, we cannot say, but what we can say is the skills of yesterday are not sufficient for the challenges of tomorrow. I am sure this was fed by the Band III Leading with Excellence prep work we are doing now thinking about, but I went to the Institute for the Future website and eventually stumbled across this power point built by Denise Caron at Shaw Communications. The thing I find extraordinary about this presentation is it is the first time I have seen anyone map VUCA in a purely positive way… enjoy.
